The film follows the Queen of Pop when she was unknown musician in the ‘80s in New York City, performing with a pop group called the Breakfast Club. Madonna formed the group in 1979 with Dan Gilroy, who she was dating at the time, and she was alternately the band’s drummer, guitarist, keyboard player, songwriter and singer.
Madonna left the band before their first single was even released in 1984. The group later had a hit with “Right on Track,” which reached number seven on the Billboard chart in 1987.
The docudrama will feature reenacted scenes with actress Jamie Auld playing Madonna, as well as interviews with Gilroy, his brother Ed, and bandmate Gary Burke.
Madonna and the Breakfast Club will be available across digital and video on-demand platforms on March 12.
