Dave MeyersFans of the two biggest sci-fi franchises — Star Wars and Star Trek — have always had a friendly rivalry, but now there’s something they can both get behind: the music of Ariana Grande.

Over the weekend, Star Wars icon Mark Hamill tweeted, “Thank you, next,” without being aware that it’s the title of Ari’s #1 hit  — and reportedly, the name of her upcoming album.

But after presumably being schooled by Ariana’s fans, the man known as Luke Skywalker tweeted, “You know you’re out of it when someone suggests you tweet what you think is just a random phrase that turns out to be the title of the new album by @ArianaGrande, one of the most popular artists in the history of showbiz.”

He added the hashtags #ImSorryAri and #ItsUnotYou.

In response, iconic Star Trek actor George Takei, best known for playing Mr. Sulu in the original series, tweeted to Hamill, “Her popularity is well-earned…She has what feels like the voice of an angel, that @ArianaGrande. One that could fill the vast heavens.”

When Ariana saw Takei’s praise, she freaked out. Retweeting his comment, she wrote, “hello i am crying.”

After tweeting a string of hearts to both Hamill and Takei, Ari then added, “sulu …… likes my voice i ……. have to go.”

Takei responded with an invitation for Ari to become an ambassador for the “50th Anniversary of Stonewall here in NYC” — referring to the seminal 1969 incident that launched the gay rights movement in the U.S.

Takei, who’s openly gay, added, “I could make a recommendation on your behalf. So many in the LGBTQ community adore you.”
