The Weeknd’s been teasing his new album for months, and now we know when it’s coming out: Friday.

The album’s called Dawn FM, and according to a one-minute trailer, it features, or somehow involves, Jim Carrey, Quincy Jones, Tyler, the Creator and Lil Wayne

Described as “a new sonic universe from the mind of The Weeknd,” the album seems to have a story attached to it, just as his previous album After Hours did. But this time, instead of wearing a red jacket, he’s dressed in black leather.

In the trailer, we see the star seemingly captured by robed and hooded figures, and we also see him as an old man. There’s also a shot of him standing on a stage with a bolt of lightning shooting into him, and a shot where he’s approached by a beautiful blonde, who then transforms into a red-robed and hooded figure.

We then hear what sounds like a D.J. saying, “You are now listening to Dawn FM.  You’ve been in the dark for way too long. It’s time to walk into the light and accept your fate with open arms.”

Dawn FM is technically The Weeknd‘s fifth album, not counting mixtapes and EPs.  It’s his first major full-length release since After Hours, which came out in March of 2020 and featured the hits “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears.”
