Interscope RecordsThe A Star Is Born soundtrack is expected to get some love at the Oscars this year, but it won’t be eligible for the 2019 Grammys.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the only song that will be able to compete is “Shallow,” sung by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. It’s the one song from the movie that was released before the October 1 deadline for Grammy nominees.

The rest of the soundtrack came out five days after the cut-off, on October 5, the same day the film was released. There’s a reason why filmmakers decided to keep that release date.

“We didn’t want to release the soundtrack before the movie because the soundtrack really is the story of the film,” producer Lynette Howell tells THR. “There are multiple tracks in there that are soundbites from the film and so it was really important that people experience them simultaneously and it was important to Bradley that audiences got a chance to experience the movie first or at least alongside.”

A Star Is Born — which also features the songs “I’ll Never Love Again” and “Always Remember Us This Way” — is the first soundtrack in more than 10 years to spend its first three weeks at number one. It’s also Lady Gaga’s longest-running number-one album since 2011’s Born This Way topped the Billboard 200 for two weeks.
