Kelly Clarkson performing at U.S. Open's opening ceremony next month

ABC/Image Group LAKelly Clarkson is set to headline the opening night ceremony of the U.S. Open next month.

Good Morning America reported this morning that the singer’s performance will be the “centerpiece of the event’s 50th anniversary.” The show will take place at Arthur Ashe tennis stadium in Queens, New York on August 27.

United States Tennis Association Chairman of the Board and President Katrina Adams tells Billboard, “We are honored to have such a talented performer join us in this very special year. Kelly Clarkson’s musical versatility, her unparalleled presence and of course her voice, will make this a night to remember.”

The two-week-long U.S. Open will air on ESPN.
