It'll be “women supporting women” as Lindsay Stirling kicks off joint tour with Evanescence on Friday

A full orchestra will accompany both acts. Because Evanescence is fronted by singer Amy Lee, Lindsey says the tour is an example of “women supporting women.”

“I think the best results are gonna come when women start to uplift other women,” Lindsey tells ABC Radio, referring to the current state of the music industry, which is largely male-dominated.

“When I plan a writing session…I wanna make sure there’s another woman in the room.  And I wanna go on tour with a powerhouse woman [like Amy]! And our conductor is a woman!”

“We can do it all!” Lindsey adds. “You can be a mom — Amy proves that…I think [it’s] so cool that she brings her kid on the road.  And women supporting women is, I think, how this is gonna change.”

Adding to the supportive atmosphere is the fact that neither Lindsey or Amy are “opening” for the other.

“We’re gonna switch every night. You never know who’s gonna be opening the show, who’s closing the show, so it’s gonna keep us on our toes, it’s gonna keep it fresh,” explains Lindsey. “And then also, we’re gonna guest on each other’s set, which will make such a cool, unique experience for anyone who’s at the show.”

While Amy’s excited for all that, she’s also looking forward to having another women on the road with her.

She laughs, “It’s so cool to have somebody else [around]…when I run out of eyeliner, y’know?”
