Five Deaths Reported In Bay Area Of California Due To Storms

Severe, heavy rain slammed Northern California, affecting highway traveling and contributing to two fatal traffic accidents that killed four people in the Sierra foothills and Wine Country. The storms were also responsible for a tree that fell onto a homeless encampment in Oakland, killing an unidentified person.

Mudslides, hail, high winds, toppled trees, snow and downed power lines were all part of the biggest storm of 2019 as an atmospheric river and cold front rolled into the Bay Area.  Wide areas of California were put on alert for treacherous conditions, and flash flood warnings are posted in many areas statewide as of Thursday. In addition, some neighborhoods near wildfire burn scars were put under evacuation orders.
